Novartis Ireland Ltd, the Irish subsidiary of the multinational pharmaceutical giant, has initiated legal proceedings against Accord Healthcare SLU in the Irish High Court. The dispute between the two pharmaceutical companies centres on a patent dispute, the details of which are not yet known. However, it is not the first time the two companies have been on opposing sides of a legal matter. The Irish proceedings follow litigation between the two companies in the US over Novartis’ patent battle for its blockbuster drug, Gilenya, which is used to treat relapse multiple sclerosis, the chronic disease that affects the central nervous system.…
