The Dublin-based non-American operation of the professional social network LinkedIn continued to provide a sizeable contribution to the profitability of its parent Microsoft last year. Accounts just filed by Linked Ireland show that revenue increased by $1.4 billion to $4.6 billion in 2021, with a slower growth in profit leaving the subsidiary with a pre-tax income of $176 million.  This, however, is net of unspecified “administrative expenses” that grew to $1.7 billion and include payments for technology rights housed in the group’s international intellectual property centre, the Irish company Microsoft Ireland Research.
