Barryroe Offshore Energy, formerly Providence Resources, is a €52 million company that’s in the unusual position of being totally dependent on one person: the Minister for the Environment, Communications and Climate, Eamon Ryan. Barryroe needs Ryan’s sign-off to go ahead with its oil drilling project. Barryroe owns 80 per cent of the Barryroe field, off the coast of Kinsale.
