On March 7, 2007, Tom Lyons, then a radio journalist, drove from Dublin to the Slieve Russell Hotel in Cavan to hear a speech. The event seemed unexciting. It was a conference organised by the Cavan County Enterprise Board which wasn’t necessarily something a journalist would travel from Dublin to witness. But this was different. Sean Quinn was scheduled to speak in the magnificent hotel he had built when so many believed it was crazy. So when Tom arrived at the event, he talked to Quinn and he agreed to allow him to record the speech from the speaker’s podium.…
