First Ireland, an Irish-owned insurance broker founded in 1982, is in advanced talks to sell to Gallagher, one of the world’s largest insurance brokerages. The price being paid for the Dublin 8 firm has not yet been disclosed. However, based on the multiples being paid for similar businesses and the accumulated cash pile within the company, it is likely to be valued at well over €50 million.
