An interim examiner has been appointed to the Irish franchisee behind 26 Iceland supermarkets, days after the Food Safety Authority of Ireland issued a recall of its frozen animal products. The High Court made the appointment on hearing the loss-making Metron Stores Ltd needs breathing space to deal with high rents, an employee strike, and the destruction of stock under the FSAI order.
