It was the first chance for politicians to grill RTÉ over the payments scandal which has thrown the station into disarray.  A chance for politicians to get answers to the many questions that have been raised by the trail of statements and drip of information that has dominated the news for the past week. And as independent TD Mattie McGrath asked the RTÉ executives and board members who they had lied to, it seemed the expanse of the Oireachtas Media Committee’s questioning knew no bounds. Who had they lied to? It was an existential question with no restraints on time…
