The Bar Council of Ireland has recommended strike action by criminal law barristers pursuing pay hikes. The unprecedented decision to implement a one-day withdrawal of services on October 3 has been notified to the government and follows a number of informal walkouts by criminal law practitioners, protesting the government’s refusal to reverse austerity cuts.
