Contract negotiations between broadcaster Ryan Tubridy and RTÉ ended dramatically on Thursday night. The decision to halt talks was made by the new director general, Kevin Bakhurst, after it had appeared that a deal was close to being done between the high-profile presenter and the state-owned broadcaster. Bakhurst had described these negotiations as at a “delicate stage” only last weekend and predicted that a deal could be done as soon as the end of this week.
