Iceland workers with unsatisfied pay and holiday claims have told a packed court they are the victims of a “sinister and devious series of events” at the insolvent chain, currently in examinership. Their claims, 25 of which have been lodged to the WRC, come as Metron, the firm behind the supermarket chain in Ireland since last February, has raised serious allegations against previous owners, Iceland UK, alleging improper financial transactions in the run-up to the sale earlier this year.
