Airbnb Ireland agreed to pay over half a billion euro in back taxes to Italy after years of legal battles over legislation forcing it to collect levies on host income, the online letting platform’s US parent announced this Wednesday in a notice to the Nasdaq stock exchange. “On December 13, 2023, without admitting any liability, Airbnb Ireland signed an agreement with the Italian Revenue Agency in settlement of the Audited Periods for an aggregate payment of €576 million euros,” the announcement reads.
