Bloodstock tycoon John Magnier continued to bid upwards on the Barne Estate near Clonmel, Co Tipperary as late as October 6, offering a total of €16.5 million, new legal filings claim. Magnier, who controls Coolmore Stud, is suing the owners of the Barne Estate, a 17th-century chateau-style mansion, on the grounds he allegedly shook hands on a sale for €15 million with Richard Thomson-Moore, as the beneficial owner of the property, and the Jersey-based trust that is its legal owner, on August 22 last.
