After the wobble in corporation tax receipts observed through the autumn, the latest Exchequer figures to the end of December show that the recovery observed in November continued through the end of the year. The tax take from companies last month was €1.8 billion, up nearly 20 per cent on the previous December and beating the previous record for that month in 2021. This, however, has nothing to do with a seasonal bounce in pre-Christmas profits.
