Pig farmers have lodged what appears to be a multi-party compensation action in the High Court over semen supplied for the artificial insemination of livestock. Last Wednesday, fifteen cases were lodged against Irish biotech firm Pic Ireland GTC. Three of the writs also name Dutch farm supplier Schippers Export as a defendant. As previously reported when a separate lawsuit was issued last September, the dispute relates to the alleged harmful effects of a diluent used in semen products to preserve its usability.
