The scale of the mica crisis looks set to balloon as four more local authorities are now taking steps to gain access to the State’s redress scheme, documents seen by The Currency show. The Enhanced Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme was set up to help affected homeowners cover costs to demolish and rebuild houses damaged by defective concrete blocks with excessive amounts of mica or pyrite.
