Entrepreneur Seán Gallagher is preparing a bid for the Slieve Russell, the four-star Cavan hotel founded by former billionaire Seán Quinn. Gallagher has appointed Tom Barrett, the experienced director of hotels and leisure in Savills, to advise his bid, which is still at an early stage.  In November, The Irish Times reported that the hotel, which is located on 300 acres near Ballyconnell, was being prepared for the market this year by the liquidators of IBRC, the accountants Kieran Wallace and Eamonn Richardson.
