Lawyers for Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) today argued that director general Prof Philip Nolan was dismissed in late May because the board felt that management of the state agency had become “so dysfunctional” that he couldn’t continue in his role any longer. This was the second hearing after an urgent court application was made on May 30 for a temporary injunction restraining Nolan’s summary dismissal from SFI.
