In IAG, Aer Lingus pilots are going up against a company that has a track record of dealing successfully with unions at its other airlines, including British Airways and Iberia. Members of the Irish Air Line Pilots Association (Ialpa) began their industrial action on Wednesday, implementing a work-to-rule policy that will withhold much-needed flexibility from Aer Lingus during an intensely busy summer period. The immediate result has been the cancellation of 270 flights, leaving many passengers scrambling to find alternatives.
