Two years ago, Laura Bonner’s spirit brand The Muff Liquor Company was on the brink of bankruptcy. Yesterday, surrounded by celebrity investors and with a global distribution deal just signed, she finally fulfilled a long-held dream of opening a distillery in her hometown of Muff, Donegal. “It’s been 20 years in the making,” she said at the opening party. “To finally see it come to reality is unbelievable.” She hopes the distillery – the company’s new brand home – will bring jobs and tourism to the small town (population 1,200) on the Inishowen peninsula.
