Last week, the world’s largest asset manager BlackRock splurged £2.5 billion (€2.95 billion) on London-based financial intelligence platform Preqin in a deal that minted two new Irish billionaires. Chief among the benefactors was husband and wife pair Mark and Lindy O’Hare, who owned 80 per cent of the company through an investment vehicle known as Valhalla Ventures. The O’Hares stand to gain around £2 billion from the all-cash deal with both carrying Irish passports, The Currency understands.
