The European Commission has opened infringement proceedings against Ireland over concerns that EU rules on market surveillance of construction products are not being correctly enforced. Last week, the EU body sent a letter of formal notice for failure to comply with requirements under the Construction Products Regulation. Under this regulation, member states are required to monitor how construction products are manufactured and put on the market before they are used.
