China’s domination of renewable energy is hard to overstate. The country is responsible for the construction of two-thirds of the world’s wind and solar projects, according to the US non-profit organisation Global Energy Monitor. It is also on course to have around 1,200 GW of installed wind and solar capacity by the end of this year – beating its own targets set by President Xi Jinping.
