Oakmount, the property business of Press Up founder Paddy McKillen Jr, has closed the sale of the former Union Cafe site in south Dublin to Dunnes Stores, The Currency understands. As previously revealed by The Currency, the retailer was the preferred bidder for the Mount Merrion property and was in talks to finalise the deal over the past week. Oakmount had secured planning permission to redevelop the site into a combined hospitality and apartments complex in 2018, and Press Up closed down the cafe last November in preparation for the project.
