Meta is appealing fines of €251 million handed down by the Data Protection Commission (DPC) last December over a security breach affecting millions of Facebook users. A DPC inquiry was launched after the tech giant reported a flaw in a video upload feature that allowed, over two weeks in September 2018, unauthorised users to hack into approximately 29 million Facebook accounts globally, three million of which were based in the EU/EEA.
