In ancient Rome, gladiators took an oath known as the “sacramentum gladiatorium” before entering the arena. This solemn promise typically included vows to endure hardships, fight bravely and accept their fate, whether victory or death. It was therefore fitting that the Colosseum in Rome served as the backdrop for this season’s Six Nations Championship launch.
