Ireland’s national standards body has suspended the certification of some medical devices while the organisation faces an overhaul by Government. The National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) hit pause on certifying in-vitro medical devices and products, which includes the likes of blood tests. The NSAI was designated two years ago under new EU rules called the In Vitro Diagnostic Regulation, or IVDR, to carry out product certifications to ensure they meet the regulation’s standards.
