Shortly before Christmas last year, ESB put out a €70 million tender for data centre services. The aim was “to deliver a resilient ICT (Information Communications Technology) infrastructure which will support ESB’s objectives of delivering a low-carbon electricity system,” the tender documents said.  ESB required two locations in Dublin with a capacity of around 450KW each, which would enable it “to continue to transition towards becoming a digital and data-driven organisation”.
