The Private Hospitals Association (PHA), a network of large independent hospital operators, is being disbanded. The private hospital network represents nine hospital groups which cumulatively employ thousands of healthcare workers. At a meeting this week, the board unanimously voted to voluntarily dissolve the association which traces its origins to 1988. This means for the first time in 37 years there is no association representing major hospital groups in their dealings with various stakeholders including the Government, the Health Service Executive and insurance companies.
