The scale of gas needed to power data centres will grow to at least nine per cent of the gas demand of the entire power generation sector by 2032, newly released figures show.  The Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) tightened up electricity grid connections rules in 2021 as the demand from the power-hungry industry grew, leading several data centre operators to switch to onsite gas generation and the gas grid to fire up their facilities.  New data shows that the annual demand for the gas network will grow from 477GWh this year to 2,608 GWh by 2032 as sites…
