One of the defining features of the Irish business sector last year was the rapid expansion of private equity – both domestic and international. There were 74 PE deals concluded in 2024, more than double that in 2023, with some of the more high-profile transactions conducted by Swedish private equity business EQT by way of the acquisition of gaming services company Keywords and waste management firm AMCS. In particular, there was a marked increase in deals by non-Irish PE firms with British-based firms contributing heavily to that increase.
