The former GAA manager and leading private emergency accommodation provider, Séamus McEnaney, has received planning permission to refurbish the famous “House of the Dead” Georgian building on Usher’s Island. Dublin City Council has granted Brimwood Unlimited planning permission for a 10-apartment refurbishment at the late-Georgian three-bay 15 Usher’s Island property along the quays in Dublin 8. Brimwood is controlled by McEnaney and is one of over a dozen companies run by family members which, as a group, are leading private-sector providers of emergency accommodation in the country, and generate significant profits.
