The country’s energy regulator and the national sustainable energy authority are both undergoing wide-ranging reviews as the State looks to tackle an increasingly complex energy environment. Both the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) and the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) play key roles in the State’s energy system. According to the Programme for Government (PfG), the CRU is central to plans for “intensifying the transition to lower-cost renewables” and investing in grid infrastructure.
