An Irish tour operator caught up in a competition probe in Italy over the use of bots to hoard tickets for the famous landmark is planning to appeal a €1.4 million fine. City Wonders was probed along with several other companies for anti-competitive practices by buying up swathes of tickets for the tourist favourite in Rome and reselling them at a significant mark-up. The Italian regulator, AGCM, sanctioned several companies for scooping up tickets to the Colosseum and related attractions, creating artificial scarcity of the tickets and reselling those tickets at inflated prices, often as part of a tour package.…
