Legitimate, a Northern Irish start-up founded to help tackle fake news, has shut its Belfast holding company and will instead run the international business through a US entity. The start-up was founded by husband and wife pair Caoimhe and Gerald Donnelly in 2020. The duo initially developed a series of free-to-use tools for journalists to help build trust with audiences. Legitimate offers a “universal bio” for journalists that enables accurate attribution while also adding an additional layer of certainty for readers who are consuming information in an era where false news and AI-generated content are more prolific than ever before. …
