The BBC engaged in “reckless” journalism by using a single anonymous source to claim “peacemaker” Gerry Adams sanctioned the murder of IRA spy Denis Donaldson in 2006, the High Court has heard. Adams, who began giving evidence on Tuesday afternoon, is seeking damages over allegedly libellous claims made in the Northern Ireland current affairs show Spotlight, broadcast on September 20, 2016, and in an online BBC article the following day.
