Born in 1955, artist Peter Monaghan grew up in Walkinstown in Dublin and studied at NCAD in the mid-1970s, going to work for several companies before establishing his own design business. In 2000, he gave up his job in design to become a full-time artist. As he celebrates his 70th birthday, a retrospective of Monaghan’s work has just ended at Gormleys Art Gallery in the capital.
