The intake of the Carbery Group’s processing plant in Ballineen is a multi-lane hive of activity, where lorries queue to deliver a constant flow of milk from 1,200 farms across west Cork. One hour’s drive away from the facilities of the world-famous Kerry co-op, Carbery’s more discreet dairy ingredients, taste and nutrition business turned over €668 million last year. It employs 1,000 here and at international locations stretching from Ohio to Thailand.
