The Department of Transport is currently looking into the activities of nine air operators as part of its examination of alleged illegal transport of arms to Israel via Irish airspace. Civil air operators need an exemption from the transport minister to carry munitions of war through Irish sovereign territory. No consent has been sought for overflights of weapons to Israel since 2023.
