Eddie Irwin was variously described in court as bloodstock billionaire John Magnier’s “right-hand man” and his “fixer” when things go wrong. The accountant, who has worked as a financial advisor at Coolmore for over 40 years, made it clear he wasn’t so keen on labels. “I do a job for Mr Magnier,” he told the court. “Catchphrases and names aren’t something I use.” He did agree, however, under cross examination, that he was the person called upon by Magnier when problems arose.
