Amazon’s satellite internet business is joining its rival Starlink in placing ground infrastructure in Ireland. Project Kuiper, the satellite internet provider from the tech giant, has applied to the communications regulator ComReg to place a satellite base station in Co Cork, a few weeks after Elon Musk’s Starlink applied to set up a ground station in Co Mayo. Starlink already has an existing ground station in Co Cork. Both companies provide high-speed broadband through constellations of low-orbit satellites.
