Over the past two years, Formula 1 officials have been mapping out circuits using a vehicle saddled with a series of downward-facing cameras. The vehicle provides race officials and teams with an up-to-date 3D map of the track to help identify things like imperfections in the surface or other difficulties, like manholes in the case of a street circuit like Monte Carlo.
