Former Wirecard chief operating officer Jan Marsalek simply vanished when the online payment provider collapsed in 2020, owing creditors nearly $4 billion.  An Interpol red notice from last year described the 45-year-old Austrian fugitive as wanted by Germany for an “especially serious case of fraud”.
