Ireland is lagging behind on enacting a new framework for EU sanction rules. The European Commission recently opened infringement proceedings against Ireland and several other EU member states for the failure to transpose the new directive into national law. The directive was introduced in April of last year with a deadline of May 20, 2025, which was missed by Ireland and others.
