Solar energy projects in Italy owned by renewable energy firm WElink are being offloaded after the appointment of receivers from Grant Thornton. Austrian lender Kommunalkredit appointed the receivers to seek a new investor in WElink’s Italian solar power portfolio. The receivers were appointed over the shares of Ableon Limited, a company owned by WElink founder Barry O’Neill. The portfolio consists of incomplete solar power farms and battery storage facilities across Italy that are at advanced stages of development and nearing ready-to-build status.
