The National Shared Services Office (NSSO) is a little-known agency with a big responsibility.  Since it was set up in 2012 to handle human resources services, the office has evolved into one of the biggest shared services operations in Ireland, now handling payments and pension services for a range of departments and other public bodies.  Today, it has a staff of 800, and billions of euro go through its offices every year.
