One of the country’s largest indigenous whiskey companies has won a judicial review challenge to quash An Coimisiún Pleanála’s decision to refuse planning permission for maturation warehouses near Leap in Co Cork. Cork County Council originally granted permission for West Cork Distillers’ proposed six-warehouse storage complex in January 2023, a decision which was overturned by the superior planning board on appeal from locals and an environmental group. West Cork Distillers brought a judicial review challenge to this decision.
