At the sentencing hearing last Friday, DJ Carey was warned a custodial sentence was inevitable. This Monday lunchtime, Judge Martin Nolan came good on that warning, jailing the former Kilkenny hurler for five and a half years for what he described as a “reprehensible” fraud.
