The General Court of the EU has issued a judgement quashing the European Commission’s 2016 decision that Irish tax rulings in favour of Apple’s subsidiaries amounted to state aid. The court found this Wednesday that “the Commission did not succeed in showing to the requisite legal standard that there was an advantage,” which would be illegal under EU competition law.
