Irish Distillers has registered new trademarks for Jameson in Russia, two years after its parent company pulled out of the market. Trademarks for the iconic whiskey were filed earlier this year with Russia’s federal intellectual property office by Irish Distillers International Limited, according to documents seen by The Currency, and published last month. A spokesperson for Irish Distillers said the Jameson maker filed the new trademarks to take “proactive measures” against counterfeits in Russia. “Intellectual property is a critical and valuable asset for our brands and our business.
