Barry Synnott, group CEO of the Boyne Valley Group and a board member since 2019 of the semi-state Port of Cork Company, has resigned his position at the port. Synnott was reappointed in 2022 for a term that was due to last until 2027. Synnott tendered his resignation directly to the Department of Transport, which oversees the semi-state ports. A spokesperson for the port told The Currency: “The Port of Cork Company has been advised by the Department of Transport that Mr Synnott has formally tendered his resignation with effect from 1/1/26.” Synnott did not respond when contacted for comment.…
